CHARACTER INFO
Name: Equius Zahhak
Gender: Male
Source: Homestuck AU story “Derpbent”
Canon point: Before the beginning of their session
Age: 7 sweeps / 15 years
Colour: Olive [#416600]
Chumhandle: chivalrousTellurian
History:
While the details of Equius's history are largely unknown,
Personality:
Olive Equius is a very passive sort of person. He doesn't speak much, and when he does, it's usually short and to the point. He doesn't have much of an opinion on things, preferring to take the middle ground in all but two things; the hemospectrum is right, and cursing is bad. There are things that he likes, of course, like nature, exploration, and historical things, and ponies, but it's a subdued sort of like that he largely keeps to himself unless questioned about it. In fact, keeping to himself is one of the things that he's best at, preferring to sit and watch instead of interacting with others. He's the sort who, when invited to memos, doesn't respond very much, but will watch and read everything (including clicking on any links offered), and comment at the appropriate time. It might make him seem cold and distant, but his habit of keeping to himself is more based out of feelings of uncertainty.
Having grown up a solitary wanderer, Equius isn't very heavily socialized with his peers. He was taught that, as an oliveblood, it was his duty to be polite and subservient to those above him, and a proper role model for those beneath him. This makes him more than a bit prudish, not just about swearing, but about what he deems to be "lewd conduct" in general. Furthermore, the need for discipline, not just of the body, but of the mind as well was impressed upon from an early age - due to his extreme levels of STRENGTH, he couldn't let himself run about willy nilly lest he destroy everything and everyone around him. Thankfully, as an oliveblood, he's a lot slower to anger than his blueblooded canon self, but unfortunately, very few other trolls share this mindset, instead being wilder, cruder and undisciplined, making it hard for him to connect with them. This is why he maintains his distance; to keep from hurting others, and because he simply does not know how to react to them.
Another thing that keeps him distant is that, well... let's face it, Equius is weird. Aside from being ridiculously polite for a troll, his interests are usually the sort of things that make others edge away from him. He's very quietly enthusiastic about horses and ponies of all kinds, to a point some people would call sexual. He also feels that the upper ranks ought to subjugate and punish him, and while he won't out-right suggest it, he will heavily imply that that is a thing he wishes them to do, also in a way some people would consider sexual. He also sweats. A lot. While some wouldn't call that a personality trait, the amount he sweats is directly proportional to how upset he is. If he has broken something and is contrite, he will sweat. If someone is pushing his buttons and he gets angry, he will sweat. If he has just come across a pair of ponies mating furiously, he will sweat like the devil humping dickens. And mouthbreathe. While sporting a boner.
But weirdness aside, he's a fairly unforgettable troll. With his quiet voice, non-confrontational mannerisms, and general habit of not drawing attention to himself, he's easy to lose in a crowd, and he's okay with that. He likes things simple and straightforward, preferring peace and serenity to conflict and confrontation. But that doesn't mean he's afraid of it, for when he does chose to stand his ground, he's more like a brick wall than a doormat, not wavering in his stance slightly. He's also a protector and defender; there are very few people who come close/are allowed close to him, but to those few he is loyal to to the core. He will not allow others to lay hands on those he protects, using himself and his strength as a shield, and for those who do get past him, retaliation is swift and final.
Abilities & physical limitations:
Equius, like in canon, is absurdly strong. This is both a "power" and a physical limitation, in that, while trying to kill him is more or less like trying to stop a train, he can't interact well with others or his environment. A single, gentle touch from him can and will leave bruises on people, and contact with inanimate objects almost always causes them to break (rocks and metal being the two things that require a bit of effort). He also seems to have skin of iron/stone/what have you in that he can fall from great distances without so much as a scratch, however, he's not invulnerable, as bladed or pointed weapons can still pierce his skin, but any form of blunt force is going to be ineffective.
Appearance: [Oops, he broke it]
Notable AU differences from canon, if applicable:\
The most notable difference from canon is that Equius is an oliveblood instead of a blueblood. Otherwise, he's less volatile, and nature-themed rather than canon Equius's robot/technology theme.
Strife Specibus: Shovel-kind and Fist-kind
Prototyping:
Title: Serf of Stone
In-game abilities:
As a serf (aka servant to a landed noble), Equius's abilities are largely defensive, and particularly passive. It makes him very in-tune with the world around him, giving him an excellent sense of direction and the ability to detect others within a mile of himself. You will never be lost around him, and it's impossible to sneak up on him. Large magnets, however, will throw off this ability.
At God Tier, in addition to his basic abilities, he will also gain abilities that resemble Avatar-style Earthbending. Meaning, he can telepathically shape rocks, pulling them up from the ground to form walls or towers, forming them into armor (crude armor, at first, but would get more elegant the more he practices (not that he needs them, but hey, other people might!)), and causing earthquakes.
Planet: The Land of Plains and Ore. Which is basically wide open fields with his consorts, derpy Shetland Ponies that mostly just sort of stand around, eat, and neigh, wandering around everywhere. Sometimes, they fall into the huge cracks in the ground that are otherwise hidden by grass, and lead to a vast cave system that resembles old mining tunnels. It's easy to get lost here, as it's either a wide open space with few landmarks, or an intricate maze depending on which level you're on.
